Bereavement

Outreach to the Poor and Needy

Outreach to the Community

I) Bereavement

Bereavement Support Groups -- support for various groups such as widows/widowers, suicide and loss of a child.

Ministry of Consolation -- companions assist families with the Mass of Christian Burial Liturgy. Cake Bakers reach out to bereaved families by preparing and delivering a cake.
Office Assistants prepare booklets for the Mass of Christian Burial and reach out to bereaved families.

Rainbows -- a support group for children, teens and adults who have suffered a loss through death, divorce, separation or abandonment.



II) Outreach to the Poor and Needy

Food Pantry -- Volunteers stock our pantry and distribute food to the needy.

Holiday Plant Delivery -- Volunteers deliver plants to the homebound during Christmas and Easter Seasons.

Pick-A-Star Program -- volunteers collect, sort and deliver Christmas gifts for the needy.

Thanksgiving Food Drive -- volunteers collect, sort and distribute holiday meals.



III) Outreach to the Community

Blood Drive -- Volunteers assist Long Island Blood Services to coordinate in-parish blood drives twice a year.

Ministry of Prayer -- members of this ministry pray for the needs of the parish, and for special intentions placed in our prayer baskets in Church.

Our Lady's Rosary Makers -- this group creates rosary beads to be donated to missionaries throughout the world.

Peace and Justice -- members of our Peace and Justice Ministry try to increase our awareness of Catholic Social Teaching and offer ways to put these teachings into action.

Prison Ministry -- Spiritual and Corporal assistance is provided for individuals reentering society.

Transportation Ministry -- rides are provided to Sunday Mass and to local doctors' offices free of charge to those in need.
