Mission Statement for Saints Philip and James Music Ministry
Our mission as music ministers is to assist the congregation in expressing and sharing the gift of faith within them through music. It is through our music that we uncover other ways of expressing meaning and feeling. We, as singers and musicians, communicate these ideas, which words alone cannot express.
Come join a choir as part of your Stewardship. Share your time and talent.
-- We need you!!!

MARGARET CASTIGLIE-ADAMS BIOGRAPHY
Hi, I'm Margaret Castiglie-Adams, and I have been the Music Director of SSPJ for the past five years. I grew up in the parish and attended the parish school. I have always been interested in church music and eventually chose music as my career. I was Assistant Organist for 12 years and during that time I graduated C.W. Post where I majored in Music Education and received a B.S. I am also certified to teach music in New York State. Working here in the church is a great experience. We have three choirs and our ministry is made up of dedicated parishioners. It continues to grow and everyone praises God through music. So, if you always wanted to sing, join one of the choirs. You are always welcome. See you in Church!
The Parish of Saints Philip and James has three choirs; an Adult Choir ages 18 and up, a Young Adult Choir Grades 9-12, and a Children's choir Grades 3-8.
Bridge of Harmony, the parish adult choir, meets Thursdays at 7:30 - 9:30 pm in the church and sing on Sunday at the 10:30 am Mass. The group also sings for the parish Confirmation's.
The Chords of Faith, our Young Adult Group, consists of teens from grades 9-12. They practice every Tuesday 7:30 pm until 9:00 pm in the church and sing on Saturdays at the 5:00 pm Mass. Instrumentalists are always welcomed; if you play in instrument we want you. (Drums, strings, keyboards, guitars, brass and singers) All are welcome!!
The Cherubs Choir is a group of children from grades 3-8. They meet Tuesday afternoons from 4:30 - 5:45 pm in the Church. The children sing on Sundays for the Family liturgy at 9:00 am. This group also sings for the parish First Holy Communions Liturgies.
Out of the three groups we have a group of adult and children that serve as cantors for our liturgies. They help to lead the congregation in singing a joyful song. These men, women and children sing at the regular Sunday Masses and also for holy Days.
SSPJ Music Groups prepare for Christmas and Holy week liturgies along with the regular Sunday Masses. We have an annual Parish Christmas Concert. The Christmas Concert is a fun time for all, participants as well as our audience. We sing spiritual and seasonal favorites and we feature our sing a long for every one to enjoy.
So join a choir and share in the fun while praising God. Remember "He who sings prays twice"
